Count down to ..... TERROOOOORRRR
September 29 is looming in the mists. 10 miles. 18 minutes a mile. Holy holy what the hell did I get myself into. It's not just that.... It's also that I suckered my sister into it to. NO pressure. None at all. I've been half - assed training, hauling myself to the gym when I feel like I'm not too tired, and staying on some semblance of a diet, and though I've lost a grand total of 13 pounds I am still intimidated.
It's not like I can fake it till I make it, I've done that in a 5k or two, sure my average time with my spare tire and love handles is a 17 minute mile, but this next race... they have a sweeper bus and my sister and I will be wearing some sort of matching outfits involving tutu's. What have I done....
Today is a no training day, it's a self actualization/intense conversation with my internal ass of a health coach. I almost had myself back on Atkins. ALMOST- until I realized I have the willpower of a stuffed goat when it comes to eating pancakes on weekends and snacking on fruit between meals. That's right coach, hush up with your extremes, let's just try to be normal for a minute and find something that works.
My biggest obstacles:
Count down to training... ugh.

- Cooking for 1. I don't ken preprocessed foods unless you count Totinos party pizzas and ramen. Both of these options are NOT on the diet.
- Finding time to pre cook and pre plan - then following through!. I had an advantage this last week while my little one was off galavanting with the grandparents, I could actually think about what I was doing. I thought this week would be a no-brainer, but alas poor Yorick, the pizza boxes in the bin are a testament to what I think of pre-planning.
- Snacking, I love to eat. That is what got me into this predicament in the first place. I never use to snack, but these days, it seems to be all I do. I'm not just talking a handful of healthy flavourless gunk, no, see we have these fancy vending machines at work that call to me around 3 in the afternoon.. They sing "lllluuuuuu luuuuuuuuuu you need something sweet to chew" and I'm done for.
- Following through on the Exercise. I have a super fancy jogging stroller that barely fits into my trunk. I have some awesome "HOT PANTS". I have a membership to the nicest gym in town. Yet when I get home from work, I'm so damn tired all I want to do is put up my feet, make some rice, and chill.
Count down to training... ugh.
